Below are the services we provide and a brief description of each. We offer a cafeteria approach—you select the services you need, and our fees are based on those services plus the scope of your project.
There are a number of types of literary editing with some overlap between these types. Listed here are the four levels of editing we offer, with a brief description of each as we apply it to your work.
...is the least extensive type of editing and involves checking the manuscript for typos, spelling and grammatical errors, punctuation and capitalization, and giving a simple professional polish to the manuscript. A Copy Edit/Proofread should be the final step in the editing process, coming after line, content, and/or developmental editing.
... is best described by NY Book Editors as addressing "the creative content, writing style, and language use at the sentence and paragraph level." It is NOT scouring the manuscript for errors as in copy editing.
... is exactly what the name suggests: a highly focused review of the manuscript that examines plot, paragraph and sentence structure, word choice, and the structure of the entire manuscript. Our level of content editing also includes the components of copy and line editing.
... is the most comprehensive and complex form of editing we offer. It includes a thorough review of the entire manuscript with attention to structure, plot lines, argument and evidence, stylistic and word choices, and in the case of fiction, character development. Our developmental editing services include content, line, and copy editing.

One of the most fascinating and rewarding aspects of our work is that of ghostwriting memoirs and family histories. Through hours of in-person and virtual interviews, exhaustive research, and careful review of photos and primary source material, we will craft an engaging and well-written story of your life or your family's history.
Your book cover is the single most engaging piece in your marketing arsenal. A professionally designed book cover will make your book stand out from others. Our cover design process is collaborative—we talk with you about your design ideas, then provide several preliminary layouts for your consideration. Once you've made a choice among those options, we tweak the design until you're satisfied with the end result. Our cover designs include front, back, and spine design, plus a barcode.
Designing and formatting the body of your book is no simple task. A professionally designed interior, when paired with a professionally designed cover, will set your book apart from others. Interior book design includes font selections, chapter headings, pagination, photo pages, front and back matter—virtually every page between the front and back covers—as well as an ISBN for each edition you plan to offer (i.e., softcover, hardcover, eBook, etc.)
Somewhere between 20% and 25% of all books sold in the US today are eBooks. Given that statistic, most authors see the value in providing their books in multiple formats, including eBook (i.e., Kindle.) Because of the unique nature of eBook formatting—giving the reader the ability to change font size, etc.—preparing your book for sale as an eBook requires software and expertise most authors don't have. Our team has prepared numerous books for sale as eBooks.
Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) is the print-on-demand publishing arm of Amazon. Since Amazon sells about half of all print books and nearly three-quarters of all eBooks in the US, we focus on placing our clients' books on Amazon's platform with well-written book page descriptions, effective search terms, and fully functioning author management of their KPD accounts.
KDP is constantly upgrading and modifying its platform to make it more user-friendly. Still, first time users are likely to find it a bit intimidating to navigate, and might well be put off by such tasks as writing engaging copy for their book's description, setting up their author page in Author Central, and selecting effective categories and search terms. We'll manage these tasks for you so that all you need to do is relax until your book goes live.
In making your book available on Amazon, the most critical step is uploading your cover, interior manuscript, and eBook files. Again, most find this step challenging and stressful. We manage the uploads and reviews of these files and take the stress out of the process for you.
